Can't connect to database since upgrading to MS Office 2013
Permalink

Ever since I upgraded to MS Office 2013 I've been getting errors when I try to connect to my Access 2007 database file (with the accdb extension).  I'm finding that I can connect to the older mdb-style Access files and to xls-style Excel files.  The error message that I've been getting is

CreateConnectString failed.  Check installation of database driver.

Then I get another message about an unrecoverable error,

You are correct in noting the connection to MS Office 2013.  You need to install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255.  When you get there then click on the Download button.  From the next page click on AccessDatabaseEngine.exe to install the x86 version.
