How do I use metric coordinates?

I have a quick question. In the data files, are the elevation and depth parameters in imperial measurements? Since I am in Australia, I will be using the metric system. I will also be using latitude and longitude so I hope it is easy to change the easting and northing columns.

If you want to enter your coordinates in latitude/longitude and to use meters for your elevation coordinates then you will want to do the following:

  1. Change the Easting and Northing header columns to Longitude and Latitude.  Be sure to enter the coordinates using degrees-decimal with the convention of positive longitude values in the easterly direction.
  2. When you start the program select Edit -> Localization and enter “meters” or “m” as the Length Units.
  3. Next select View->Options and select UTM as your coordinate system.  This will result in your location coordinates being automatically converted to a metric-based coordinates system.
  4. Connect to your database using File ->Open Database and selecting your file.  EnviroInsite will automatically determine the UTM zone and set the value.  You can see what it has specified as the UTM Zone by selecting View -> Options again.
  5. Create your plots in EnviroInsite and save out an EnviroInsite document with File -> Save As.  The units, your selection of UTM coordinates, and the UTM Zone will be saved to the document and recalled later if you were to reopen that document.
