But seriously there are very good reasons to upgrade. There are changes to the underlying architecture that improve program stability and the ability to deduce the source of errors. We have also ceased generating fixes for version 7 so you're stuck with whatever you have now. Check the linkedin group for the announcement of new features in EI2012.
New stuff in the works that would be provided if you have EI2012 include control over brightness and contrast of imported images and layer control in exported pdf files. Also, other things that haven't even been conceived of as yet.
