Confused about Use of Standard Name
Permalink

I’m kind of confused about the new Standards field in the constituents table. How do you add 2 different standards for a single analyte without it telling you that you can’t have duplicate values? So for example, I want to compare Boron to 2 standards (PWQO and ODWS), but I can’t have 2 constituents named Boron in my table. It would almost seem to me that you would need to have a composite key of Constituent and Standard Name used together?? Rather than just having Constituent as the primary key?

To add a 2nd standard, you simply add a record in the Constituents tab. The original record and the new record should be the same with respect to Constituent, Media, and Fraction, but differ in the Standard Name and presumably the Standard value as well. The standard values are used differently in different plots:

(1) Post data – Select the color and text style for up to two standards. The plotted color is that of the highest exceeded standard, or the default text color and style if no standard is exceeded.

(2) Data Tables - Select the fill color, text color, and text style for up to two standards. If there is a check at Split Fill Cell then the exceedance style for all exceeded standards are plotted. If there is no check at Split Fill Cell then the exceedance style of only the highest exceeded standard is shown.

(3) Time Graphs – You may select and plot up to two standards.
