I have been trying to plot in EnviroInsite 2014 the output of a simple plume model. I have created a 2D (X, Y, C) data set and a 3D (X, Y, Z C) data set. I cannot get the data to plot (contour or surface) and have had no luck searching the Help files and the internet for terms such as EnviroInsite and "external data" "data file format" "plot external data" "contour data points" etc. etc.
What are the proper EI2014-compatible formats for these types of ASCII data files? Is there a required header line that tells EI any specific information?
I have tried importing simple X, Y, C and X, Y, Z, C data files and EI seems to recognize the data (number of points, range of concentrations, etc.) but for the 2D plot it throws an error telling me that I have selected two or less points. Do I have to set a plot area before importing so that EI knows the size of the geographic area in which it should look for data? Is there a limit to the number of data points EI can contour? Is it a problem that the data are already on a regular grid?
I'm stumped. Any help appreciated.

The format is a simple text file that can be either space or comma delimited. For 3d-contour or 3d Classed Post, each record will need four values. That's an x,y,z to define the location and a fourth value to define the value to be plotted. For the other external data plots, like particle tracking 2d-Contour or 3d Surface, each record should only have an x,y value to define the location and a z value indicating the value to be plotted.
For the error that you're describing, the most likely cause would be that the query rectangle in your data plot has not been set correctly. If that's not the case then please send your data files to support@enviroinsite.com and we'll see what else it could be.
