Soil concentrations can be entered in the Observations table. What is commonly misunderstood is that the horizontal location of the soil measurement should be entered in the Wells table and the vertical horizon of the measurement should be entered in the Screens table -- even if there is no physical well or screen at this location. You may elect to include "Soil" in the Media field of the Observations table record. If you do so, make sure to also add a record in the Constituents table. For example if you measure TCE in soil that is measured in units of mg/kg and TCE in water samples that is measured in mg/L then you need to have two records in the constituents table as follows:
Constituent Units Media TCE mg/L water ..... TCE mg/kg soil ....
You may also want to use the Class field of the Wells table to indicate those locations for which wells have not been constructed. This will enable you to define your query to not plot these soil borings locations when you want to plot only wells.
